are some ways you can involve students and youth in the festivities:
School Tour Day
The Santa Barbara Fair & Expo is offering teachers an opportunity to bring their classes to school day. The Fair will open early exclusively for classes pre-K – 5th grade that has registered beforehand. Self-guided tours include the Flower Power Youth Building and livestock areas, and last about one hour. Special entertainment will be available in the Flower Power Building. Classes are welcome to bring sack lunches, a limited selection of food will be available for purchase. Tour times must be reserved in advance, please use the form here. The Fair & Expo is planning a educational scavenger hunt. The carnival will not be open during this time. Flower Power Exhibit Hall
Get ready to check out all the funky stuff goin on over at the Flower Power Exhibit Hall. Kids can visit interactive displays, enjoy themed entertainment, and make artwork inspired by their Groovy 60's adventure. The Flower Power Exhibit Hall will be open for school tours on Thursday, April 24 between 10am and 1pm, as well as during normal Fair & Expo hours. Exhibitor Entries
We look forward to showcasing your student's work at the 19th Annual Santa Barbara Fair & Expo! There are entry classes available in art, crafts, literature, baking, sewing, horticulture and gardening, group projects, Service Learning projects, school newspapers and yearbooks and more. In fact, we can find the right place for any project! Your kids work very hard every year — take this wonderful opportunity to reward them for their efforts. School-wide Coloring Contest
Kids in pre-school through 6th grade are welcome to enter. Children are invited to use their imagination to draw the Fair & Expo theme ("Peace, Love & Unity!"). Crayons, colored pencils, markers or any other medium that is appropriate for "coloring" can be utilized. First place winners in each age group will receive $10 and a Fair & Expo Family Admission Pack for 4. School Boards
We will provide 4' X 8' sheets of plywood that are painted white. Classrooms, individual students or several classrooms may work together to paint the boards depicting our 2008 Fair & Expo theme ("Peace, Love & Unity!"). The boards will be displayed at the entrance to the Fair and throughout the grounds. Boards are due no later than April 11, 2008.
